Oslo Kulturnatt: Ary Morais Band

Ary Morais is a voice of modern, tradition-bearing music from Cape Verde. With roots in the West African islands and a gaze toward the world, he sings in Cape Verdean Creole, Portuguese, and Norwegian – delivering powerful, personal songs that build on the country’s rich musical heritage.

For years, Ary has captivated audiences in Norway, Scandinavia, and internationally with a vibrant mix of warm rhythms, melodic depth, and infectious joy. His music blends styles such as morna, coladeira, mazurka, and fado, infused with Caribbean tones and Norwegian jazz references – creating a sound that feels both timeless and contemporary.

His latest album, Cruzando Fronteiras ("Crossing Borders"), takes listeners on a journey through musical diversity and cultural encounters. Released in 2023, the album features eight tracks that reflect an artist in continuous evolution – a bridge-builder between tradition and renewal.

Before and after the concert, DJ Giga Silva sets the mood with danceable rhythms and musical gems from Cape Verde and beyond.
