Alfredo Rodríguez Trio
Composer and jazz pianist Alfredo Rodríguez has taken the world by storm with his heartfelt Latin jazz drawn straight from the streets of Havana, Cuba, his hometown.
The pianist often shares snippets of jam sessions and rehearsals with his quarter of a million followers. He’s taken notice that his followers particularly enjoy the Cuban salsa genre timba, which he seamlessly integrates into jazz.
Rodríguez’s won his first Grammy for his arrangement of the world-famous Cuban folk song “Guantanamera,”.
His career took off when, at a very young age, Rodríguez represented Cuba at the Montreux Jazz Festival, where Quincy Jones was captivated by his talent. Jones and Rodríguez began collaborating in the USA, and the rest is history.
“Alfredo is without a doubt one of the best young pianists I’ve ever seen, and with the enormous skills he possesses, the potential is endless.” - Quincy Jones
Rodríguez’s latest album, Coral Way, is named after a street in Miami, which became his new home a few years ago. This lively and vibrant street has inspired Rodríguez to blend all the soundscapes of Miami, from Latin pop, timba, salsa, bachata, tango, reggaeton, and bolero.
Describing the album, the artist himself has said: “I play what I live, and Coral Way is my new life.”
“A great showcase for his inventiveness” - Jazzwise on Coral Way
“This album exudes positive energy… It may be his most vivifying work to date” - Pop Matters on Coral Way
