Oslo Kulturnatt:
Safario + Artificialice
Safario
The radiostation P3 calls Safario «An energybomb on stage» in their review of Norways young, fresh and progressive hip-hop talent.
Safarios energy, presence and charisma creates an atmosphere at his concerts where people are involved and participating – creating a space for openness. On being asked “What is it your generation understand that those who are older don’t get?” Safario answers:
- That its just cool to be yourself. You don’t have to be so tough all the time. Wear what you want. I feel like before, everyone wore the same clothes. Today people have the confidence to be more yourself, be unique.
The young rapper is from Oslo and Holmestrand and has roots from Poland. When he was growing up as a kid, he would listen to polish reggae, and now he finds inspiration in his contemporary rap-colleagues. Musical reviewers have stated to hear references to Tyler the Creator, Frank Ocean and Ivan Ave in Safarios music.
During his short, but impressively productive and intense career as a hip-hop artist, Safario has released the EP “Kapiskate”, which received five stars from both GAFFA and Subjekt. He has been the support act for Arif and Unge Ferarri and performed at many of the big festivals in Norway – including Øya, Træna and Bylarm.
Subjekt concludes their review of “Kapiskape” like this: “The most impressive about Safario is how his energy flows, his musical understanding and how he performs his melodies. The infectious positivity and his rich vocabulary give him an international dimension”.
Artificialice
Alicja Sobstyl is a composer, songwriter, vocalist, fluteplayer and producer who releases music under her artistname “Artificialice”. Her artistic project is characterized by hypnotic vocals, reminiscence of the islandic artist Björk.
Artificialice creates music in a symbiosis of electronic music and vocals filled with human emotion. In her album “Prisoners of expectations” Artificialice conveys a story of discovering one’s identity and becoming liberated from the prison of one’s own mind – many people create ideas of others expectations of you, ideas that are not necessarily the truth.
The concert is a collaboration between Cosmopolite Scene and Contemporary Polish Arts & Culture Festival We Do and it is a part of Oslo Kulturnatt.
